EPA Coal Decision Levels Playing Field for Wind, Solar
Building an alt-energy power plant is risky and expensive, but thanks to a new ruling by an Environmental Protection Agency panel, building coal plant may become riskier and more expensive.
The Environmental Appeals Board blocked the EPA from issuing a permit to a proposed coal plant addition near Vernal, Utah, about 150 miles east of Salt Lake City.
Perhaps more importantly, the quasi-independent board, composed of four highly regarded, experienced judges, ruled that the EPA needs to develop a single nationwide standard for dealing with carbon dioxide.
The current EPA, for its part, was none too happy that they must reconsider their policies, even if it will ultimately give the organization wider powers.
But the Appeals Board decision combined with the Supreme Court ruling makes it likely that the EPA will begin using the Clean Air Act in just that way, which will have implications that will reverberate through the economy. The policies towards clean air and green environment all have commonality, home based wind power plants are made easy and affordable to build and maintain.
The stricter the EPA limits on carbon dioxide, the more money coal plant operators will have to throw at technologies to reduce their CO2 emissions. That will eventually make coal power more expensive, which climate-change action advocates hope will make solar, wind, nuclear and other low-carbon technologies more competitive.

Wind power for home - cost
wind power
Wind Power for Home
At $3,000 and $5,000 per kilowatt of wind-generating capacity, or around $40,000 for a 10kW system, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), a small wind-energy system is generally less expensive than its solar-powered counterpart.
Wind turbines having few moving parts don't require much maintenance and operate practically automatically. Managing to lower your electric bill by 50 to 90 percent, with lower maintenance cost.
As with solar panels, the cost effectiveness of your installation depends heavily on its performance, which is, in turn, contingent on its geographical location.
With the right state and federal incentives applied with well-located wind turbines pay for themselves within 15 years. The 15 years is half of wind power plants useful life.
There are also a few upfront fees with wind power plant for home, the wind turbines are tall structures that require building-related permits.
You may require a conditional-use permit, zoning variance, or structural plan drafted by an engineer before you begin work.
Fees for permits and plot plans can go anywhere from $400 to $1,600, while public notifications, hearings, and environmental-impact studies may necessitate another few hundred to several thousands dollars

Eight (8) Year Solar Tax Credit Extension signed into Law.
Eight (8) Year Solar Tax Credit Extension signed into Law.
Today, by a vote of 263-171, the U.S. House of Representatives passed historic legislation that extends the 30-percent federal investment tax credit for both residential and commercial solar installations for 8 years.
This landmark legislation is part of H.R. 1424, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, designed to address the U.S. financial crisis. It is the most significant federal policy ever enacted for the solar industry. President Bush has already signed the bill into law.
The solar tax credit provisions will:
· Extend for 8 years the 30-percent tax credit for both commercial and residential solar installations;
· Eliminate the $2,000 monetary cap for residential solar electric installations, creating a true 30-percent credit;
· Eliminate the prohibition on utilities from benefiting from the credit;
· Allow Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) filers, both businesses and families, to take the credit; and
· Authorize $800 million for clean energy bonds for renewable energy generating facilities, including solar.

BOULDER - 10/2/08 - Record numbers of families and businesses looking to protect themselves against soaring energy costs and a volatile economy will find a sunny, new approach this weekend.
The 13th annual National Solar Tour kicks off in 49 states and nearly 3,000 communities across the U.S., showing participants how to go solar and harvest free energy from the sun while saving money on monthly utility bills. The National Solar Tour features property-owners who open their doors to neighbors to share how they are using the latest solar and energy efficient technologies as an 'economic lifeline' to safeguard against energy price spikes and a shaky economy.
As many as 150,000 participants are expected this year, making this the largest grassroots solar event in history. This event is coordinated nationally by the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) in partnership with dozens of solar organizations.
"The National Solar Tour highlights how families and businesses are using solar energy to protect themselves against skyrocketing energy costs," said Neal Lurie, Director of Marketing for ASES. "Participants come in curious, but they leave convinced ready to go solar."
The National Solar Tour will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in most locations in conjunction with National Solar Energy Awareness Month, which is October. Specific tour dates and times are at the official National Solar Tour listings webpage at:
www.ases.org/SolarTour
Tour participants get candid answers to questions about solar energy as well as on energy bill savings, costs, incentives, installations, and lessons learned from thousands of property owners on the National Solar Tour, including personal insight from:
A 60-something Boston couple who tapped into renewable energy to 'Beat the Street' - instead of investing a chunk of their retirement savings in the stock market, they have invested in solar and are now seeing higher returns on their money than if they'd invested in Wall Street
A newlywed couple from Chicago who found a way to go solar in a condo - and they even used their wedding gift registry to help pay for the solar system
· A 3rd generation oilman from Oklahoma who's now a champion of solar energy
· A two-tour Iraqi war veteran disillusioned with fighting a war for oil who's now obtaining his PhD in physics to fight in the renewable revolution - the war for energy independence
· An 80-something year old Arizona couple who added solar panels to their home - and their golf cart
In addition to helpful neighbor-to-neighbor discussions about solar energy -- and seeing the technology up close -- National Solar Tour participants receive the SOLAR TODAY Get Started 2009! guide with tips, information, and insight about solar water heating, photovoltaic electricity, residential wind power, ground-source heating and cooling, energy efficiency, and a list of 1650 energy system installers.
The National Solar Tour changes how Americans look at their energy choices.
According to survey results from last year's National Solar Tour, 76% of participants said they are definitely or very likely to invest in solar or energy efficient technology after the Tour, compared to less than 50% before the Tour. A stunning 74% of participants indicated that they had never visited a solar or green-built home prior to this event. Last year's National Solar Tour attracted more than 115,000 people in 2,900 communities in 46 U.S. states.

Wind and Solar Power Design Manual
Is it easy to complete the solar and wind power home project?
Being an engineer you think it was easy for me, no not at all. The blue prints, design manuals and dummies sources are available.
Getting correct source is important. My friend who is not an engineer said "I have done it". I did not believe, he invited us to see his project. He really made it and all in all.
Wind turbine was generating power day and night and solar panels adding to it in the day time. He was joyous and showing me all bills he paid to get the project complete. The expenses were nothing to what is achieved.
He will now reap savings every month.
I was jalous and quietly saw notes on his desk, copied the links.

Luxurious Life costing us Carbon Print
We always look forward to have a luxurious life. The technology helps us to improve ease in our life everyday. Do you enjoy the luxury of being in touch with anybody around the globe at a few clicks of buttons.
It is taking us where? The energy sources are depleteing and the energy requried to maintain luxury is higher and higher. Do we get same bill for power we use? It is expensive now isn't it?
Why it is costing us more? The energy we get on earth is derivied from sun. The sun and what the earth carried when it was formed, are the only sources of energy to the mankind.

Wind Power Energy

The wind is formed by difference in temperatures and pressures on earths environment. The source of temperature changes is Solar Energy.
The wind is continuously blowing and was conventionaly used by ancestors. Holland windmills are very famous. The technology developed electrical power, very convenient to transport and use. The windmills were forgotten and now technology brought it back by converting wind power to electrical power.
The technology advancements in renewable energy such as efficient conversion of wind to mechanical and mechanical to electrical energy gets the economy in wind power. Then economical storage form of the electrical energy produced was out of question.
Now economical generation of electrical energy from "Solar" and "Wind" power with storage and use is possible to soring high prices of the "Energy Stored for Us by Natural"
